Flying to Vegas: My Honest Take on Airlines, Terminals & Travel Perks
Low-cost? Premium economy? A window seat on a red-eye?
We’ve all been there, deciding how to fly is almost as important as the trip itself. Whether you’re heading out for a quick weekend escape or an international adventure, how you fly sets the tone. So let’s talk about the real MVP of your journey: the airport, and of course, the airlines.
🛬 First Stop: Harry Reid International (Las Vegas Airport)
Las Vegas’s airport is one of the easiest, most convenient airports I’ve flown through, and that’s saying a lot. Even if you’re a first-time traveler or not fluent in English, you’ll feel at ease here. It’s clean, organized, and the staff? Super friendly. Even the bathrooms are big and spotless, how often can you say that about an airport?
🧭 Two Terminals, Super Simple
-
Terminal 1: Allegiant, American, Avelo, Delta, Southwest and Spirit.
-
Terminal 3: AirLingus, Aeromexico, Air Canada, Avianca, British Airways, Condor, Copa Airlines, Swiss, EuroWings, FlairAirlines, KLM, Korean, Norse, Porter, Virgin, Viva Aerobus, Volaris, WestJet, Alaska, Breeze, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, SunCountry and United Airlnes.
Drop-offs and pickups are a breeze, with minimal traffic confusion. Vegas, you get it right.
✈️ My Airline Hot Takes: Domestic + International Favorites
Let’s break it down. Here’s who I fly and why—from ultra-budget to totally worth-it splurges.
Domestic Favorites
💸 Best Low-Cost Airline: Frontier
I fly them a lot, and I actually have their credit card (hello, free checked bags and tons of points!). If you're flexible and can pack light, this is a budget traveler’s dream.
🌟 Best Full-Service Airline: Delta
Delta feels like a breath of fresh air in the skies. Their service is consistently great, planes are comfy, and they have tons of flights daily. Pricey? Sometimes. Worth it? Definitely.
🌍 Flying to/from Europe? Here's My Breakdown:
✈️ Condor
Direct from Frankfurt, reasonably priced, and they’ve upgraded their planes recently. But, and it’s a big but, the onboard crew can be... less than friendly. Let’s just say: not efficient, not warm.
✈️ Norse Atlantic
Tempting fares, but beware: what starts as a $300 flight can easily balloon to $800 once you add a seat, luggage, food, and (yes) even a blanket. Budget wisely.
✈️ Swiss International
Not a budget option, and you feel that the second you step onboard. Impeccable service, quality food, and a true premium experience. One of the best airlines I’ve flown.
✈️ British Airways
Love their codeshare with Iberia and others. Booking with BA gives you flexibility and access to tons of European destinations, usually at competitive prices.
✈️ American Airlines
Another big player with massive codeshare reach. Not the most luxurious, but reliable and connected globally.
✈️ United Airlines
Solid across the board, especially domestically. Their international service is surprisingly polished. I’ve had some great Europe flights with them.
✈️ Delta Airlines
You’ll pay more, but it feels worth it. Clean planes, friendly crew, and solid routes. When you find a good fare, jump on it.
🇲🇽 Traveling to Mexico? Here’s What I’ve Learned as a Local:
✈️ Aeromexico
My top choice. Great service, great routes, and a partner of British Airways, which adds even more options. Not the cheapest, but excellent value.
✈️ Viva Aerobus
My go-to low-cost airline for quick Mexico trips. Friendly crew and wallet-friendly fares. It’s a great option for visiting family and friends.
✈️ Volaris
I avoid them when I can—not because they’re unsafe or bad, but because their legroom is painfully tight. Three hours in those seats and you’ll be wishing for a chiropractor.
✍️ Final Thoughts
No matter where you’re headed, how you fly matters. From cozy red-eyes to fancy transatlantic flights, your journey starts the moment you book. For me, it’s all about balancing comfort, cost, and convenience, and knowing when to splurge (Detla) and when to save (Viva Aerobus).
So next time you’re planning a trip, ask yourself: window or aisle?
Low cost or luxury?
And most importantly… what airline will actually get me there happily?
